Join the CARB Webinar Discussion on Carbon Neutrality in California - January 23rd

Dear Colleagues,

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) will be hosting “Carbon Neutrality in the California Context”, a webinar scheduled for Wednesday, January 23, 2019 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. PST.

In the last decade, California made significant progress reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and is on track to exceed the 2020 target.  As California and other jurisdictions continue to evaluate and implement programs to reduce GHGs, the concept of carbon neutrality has gained importance.  The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) published a special report that indicates that achieving global carbon neutrality by mid-century will be necessary to limit global warming to 1.5°C and reduce the risk of climate change impacts.  This webinar will introduce stakeholders to the concept of carbon neutrality, key findings in the IPCC special report, and key topics in the context of California.  In 2019, CARB will begin coordinating with sister agencies to explore achievable paths toward carbon neutrality and continue to implement direction provided in Board Resolution 17-46 to evaluate and explore opportunities to achieve additional significant cuts in greenhouse gases from all sources. CARB is the lead agency for California's fight against climate change, and oversees all air pollution control efforts in the state to attain and maintain health-based air quality standards.
