Letter of Intent (LOI) Due February 7, 2019 - UCOP's Tobacco-Related Disease Research Program (TRDRP)

Dear Colleagues,

The Tobacco-Related Disease Research Program (TRDRP) at the University of California, Office of the President, announces an open call for applications to fund research that is supported by tobacco tax revenue from Proposition 56 and Proposition 99.

Requirements

 

  • Submission of a letter of intent (LOI) is required even if you are resubmitting an application.
  • PLEASE NOTE: TRDRP is accepting new and resubmitted Predoctoral and Postdoctoral Fellowship Award applications and only resubmitted New Investigator Research Award, High Impact Pilot Research Award, and High Impact Research Project Award applications.
  • All new applications received for the 2019 call for applications must clearly address tobacco or a tobacco-related disease.
  • In addition, High Impact Research Project Awards that were first submitted in 2019A must clearly address tobacco-related health disparities or new and emerging tobacco products.
  • All applications initially submitted under the 2018 call for applications are eligible for resubmission in response to the 2018 call's priorities.

**Postdoctoral Fellows will be notified of their award status in June 2019 and will have a July 1, 2019 start date.

TRDRP administers the portion of state retail taxes levied on tobacco products that are designated for supporting research within California. This opportunity is open to investigators at all eligible California institutions who are engaged in health-related research.

All applications must address one or more of TRDRP's eight research priorities:

  • Social and behavioral prevention and treatment
  • Cancer prevention, treatment, and biology
  • Cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases
  • Environmental exposure and toxicology
  • Neuroscience of nicotine addiction and treatment
  • Oral diseases and dental health
  • Pulmonary biology and lung disease
  • State and local tobacco control policy research
