Over the Fence (Alameda County)

In the Fall, acorns start falling from oak trees. You may notice some acorns germinating and little seedlings forming, usually in inconvenient spots.

In much of Alameda County, veggie plots can be replanted with cool-season vegetables for fall and winter harvest. But winter is also a terrific time to build up the soil and its nutrients. This gives the gardener something of a break as well.
