Strawberries and Caneberries

I was asked by a newsletter to which I contribute for a few remarks on coming 2023; thought they might be worth sharing here too: Get ready for a more muscular and responsive UC Cooperative Extension.

Interesting take on resolving labor shortages in this morning's Wall Street Journal in an article written by Miho Inada. Very much like our strawberry industry, Japan has been experiencing a real worker shortage but for the time being at least applying a novel solution to it.

Registration is now open for the 10th North American Strawberry Symposium (NASS), a meeting of strawberry growers, researchers, and other industry members from around the globe, to be held in conjunction with the annual NASGA conference, March 7-10, 2023 in San Luis Obispo, California, USA.

A few weekends ago I saw a short article in the WSJ magazine that sometimes comes with the newspaper on Saturdays. The article asked five luminaries to weigh in on a single topic.

I made the attached presentation this past Wednesday for the CAPCA group in San Luis Obispo, and some in the audience requested that it be posted. It's nothing fancy, and doesn't have the bells and whistles of Camtasia or something like that.
