Dr. David Headrick went back up in the bucket this week to retrieve the 6 cages he put in place on July 27. Here's what transpired…
I went back up in the bucket to cut and remove the caged limbs. I went through all the leaves and lo and behold, one of the parasitoid species we released into the cages appears to have successfully attacked the whiteflies! Note the black body inside the whitefly nymph in the photo. Biological control at work!
Next steps? I'll meet with SLO City and other stakeholders to explain my findings and recommendations on moving forward. I'll keep you posted.
