Dear Weeders got this from Syngenta - i offered to do a vegetable plantback trial in California for bicyclopyron knowing that they had no plan to register here at least short term. I asked just in case they might be willing to come here eventually.

The evolution of herbicide resistance in weeds is an ongoing problem in California agriculture. Resistance to glyphosate has become particularly widespread across the state.

Dear California Weeders I just received this from Mark Siemens U of Arizona. Robovator the automated weeder has been recognized by ASABE. This technology has room to run and many fewer constraints than do herbicides.

A quick plug for anyone interested in attending the 2018 Western Society of Weed Science Conference in a couple weeks. This year the conference location has rotated back to California and will be held at the Hyatt Regency Orange County (in Garden Grove, CA). Meeting dates are March 12-15, 2018.

Several researchers in the UCD weed science program have been working on various aspects of glyphosate-resistant junglerice (Echinochloa colona) for the past few years.
