I am trying not to grow “too many", and my list already has 11 varieties based on past success, days to maturity, size, color, foliage, and how I plan to eat them. While I start the season with more than my share of tomato sandwiches, as the season progresses, I am enjoying a lot of gazpacho and roasted tomatoes. All of these are from the Dwarf Tomato Project: “delicious tomatoes of all flavor and size variations on compact, easy-to-maintain dwarf plants.” These selections max out at 85 days to maturity (dtm) and have set fruit throughout my long, hot summers.

‘BrandyFred;’ 75 dtm, “rugose, potato leaf (PL), 10-16 oz smooth, oblate, purple fruit”.
‘Malee Rose’; 80 dtm, regular leaf (RL), 5-14 oz, “oblate-shaped, pink fruit. smooth, slightly ribbed”.
‘Awesome’, 80 dtm, RL, 6-8 oz “oblate-shaped, deep yellow colored tomatoes with red blushing”.
‘Perfect Harmony’, 85 dtm, rugose PL, to “20 oz bright-orange colored, oblate”.
‘Wild Fred’ 85 dtm, “up to 7 oz oblate but somewhat irregular shaped, meaty, purple fruit”.
‘Gloria’s Treat’, 75 dtm, “rugose PL, 6-12 oz round to heart shaped tomatoes that are bright yellow with streaks of red”.
‘Crimson Sockeye’ 90 dtm, rugose RL, “4-19 oz smooth-skinned with slightly ribbed shoulders, oblate in shape”.
‘Uluru Ochre’, 64 dtm, rugose RL, “orange w/green, 6-12 oz “orange flesh with green overtones”.
‘Purple Heart’, 70 dtm, purple, 6-16 oz “heart-shaped purple tomatoes with deep crimson flesh” .
‘Confetti,’ 80 dtm RL, 8-12 oz “round to slightly oblate shaped, bright yellow fruit with yellow and pink stripes”.
