Saturday, June 1st, 2024
Manuel Jimenez, Farm Advisor, Emeritus University of California announces that Woodlake Pride Inc., The City of Woodlake, The University of California Cooperative Extension Tulare and Kings Co., and Driscoll’s Finest Berries invite the public to the Blueberry, Blackberry, Raspberry, and Strawberry Tasting Festival.
The Tasting will begin at 8:00 a.m. and end at 12:00 noon. The event will take place at Woodlake Botanical Garden, 577 E Naranjo Blvd. in Woodlake CA. Participants will taste several varieties of the best commercial and home garden blueberry, blackberry, raspberry, and strawberry varieties California has to offer. Participants will be encouraged to bring their children to harvest and taste blueberries directly from the plants. The entry donation is $5 per person. Children 5 years old and younger enter free.
The gardens are wheelchair accessible. Leashed dogs are welcomed. While there, visit our beautiful rose gardens, fruit orchards, vegetable, and desert gardens. Also see our historical replica of a farmworker’s house constructed from grape boxes. Most importantly, don’t forget to wear a hat!
The Woodlake Botanical Garden was created by Woodlake Pride Inc. in collaboration with the City of Woodlake and with support from the University of California Cooperative Extension. Under the direction of Manuel and Olga Jimenez, hundreds of local youths, adults, and community groups have participated in planting and maintaining the gardens for more than 20 years.
