About the Event

The intention of this tour is to generate a discussion between forestry and fire professionals about second-growth redwood forest management in the context of inevitable wildfire or prescribed fire.

Background: The 2023 Lost Fire was Redwood National Park’s largest wildfire, burning through 740 acres of redwood forest in the Lost Man Creek watershed. While the Lost Fire did burn into small areas of old growth, the majority of the fire footprint grew within the Holter Ridge forest restoration treatment area. The Holter Ridge project was one of the first of its kind to utilize pre-commercial thinning, commercial thinning and biomass removal to achieve restoration goals in a National Park, with the intention of accelerating late seral habitat in second growth forests.

Registration: This tour is free! Follow the Link below or scan the QR code in the attached flier for the registration form. Pre-registration will end June 7th.
