Duane Friend, climate specialist with University of Illinois Extension, collaborated with several faculty, curriculum creators, and animation specialists to create a short course called "Integrating Climate into Extension Programming."  The course is for Extension educators, advisors and specialists who would like to incorporate climate into existing programming. Information on climate science, communication and interactive scenarios are included. This presentation will cover why the course was developed, aspects of the course and comments from those that have already completed the course.

The 14-Day Challenge is an opportunity for you to experiment with daily writing, online community, and supportive accountability. It's very simple:

  1. You commit to write every day for at least 30 minutes.
  2. At the beginning of your writing time, you log in to our online community, start the timer, complete your writing and post your progress at the end.
  3. You take 5 minutes to support other writers in your group by commenting on their progress.

This is NOT for you if: 1) you don't want to post your progress daily and/or 2) you don't want to interact with other people. Your account is paid for by UC ANR so register for it today

Apply for the Wilderness First Aid Course at SFREC! (UC ANR Learning & Development)
Dates: April 2-3 | Sierra Foothills Research and Extension Center (SFREC)

Register now. Spots are filling up! 
Gain essential skills to handle medical emergencies in the wilderness. You'll learn the Patient Assessment System, how to provide effective first aid treatments for injuries and illnesses common in the outdoors, how to manage environmental emergencies, and how to make appropriate evacuation decisions. You will spend half your time practicing skills and participating in realistic scenarios. The course is taught by experts from NOLS, and upon completion, you'll receive a 2-year Wilderness First Aid certification.

Who Should Attend? This course is ideal for those working on public lands, in remote areas or anyone who spends time in the outdoors and wants to be prepared for the unexpected.

Details: Prerequisite: Basic CPR/First Aid (to be completed by April 2).
Meals: Provided on April 2 and 3 (let us know about any food allergies).
Class Size: Limited to 20 participants.
Requirements: Attendance required for both full days.
Accommodations: Lodging available at SFREC (April 1–3) – first come, first served.
