The orchard demonstrates the Backyard Orchard Culture (BOC),  one of the methods recommended by UC experts for the home gardener.  BOC encourages the prolonged harvest of tree-ripened fruit from a small space.  Using BOC, many fruit varieties can be planted in a small area and tree shape can be maintained through aggressive summer pruning.  There are apple, pear, peach, plum, persimmon and nectarine trees
