Join the Quercus (oak) Collaborative

Join the Quercus* Collaborative
A group of Mendocino residents noticed among the magnificent mature oaks they could find very few baby oaks and saplings. To learn more, they joined an event on Oak Regeneration at the Hopland Research and Extension Center (HREC) and helped in an activity called Catch and Release to free young oaks that had outgrown their protective caging. This was the beginning of the Quercus Collaborative. *(Latin for Oak)
If any of these activities and benefits light a fire in you, come help us plan our next year’s activities, including education and stewardship events at the Hopland Research and Extension Center on Saturday, October 12, 2024 from 10 am to 1pm, lunch included.

During the first year of the Quercus Collaborative while helping these oak youngsters thrive:

We made new friends
We got great exercise (we even got our steps in).
And we fed our curiosity about oaks and how to protect the babies.

Finally, and most importantly, we helped ensure that future generations will enjoy these magnificent creatures as they grow.
