Join professional arborist and orchardist, Terence Welch, for a live, hands-on session on how to winter prune deciduous fruit trees. This class will focus on pome fruits (apples and pears) as well as stone fruits (peach, nectarine, plum, apricot).

In this workshop we will touch on some of the 'prerequisites' required for healthy trees: Site selection and soil assessment, Sourcing quality trees: Chill hours required, size-controlling rootstocks and delicious and reliable fruit tree varieties for the Monterey Bay area.

After going over these basics, we will walk to the orchard for a hands-on demonstration and practice pruning and training young trees.

Be prepared to stand & walk for two hours wearing outdoor shoes and layered clothing.

Class size is limited to 20 people so please register early.

Because of the unique aspect of this opportunity we are recommending a per participant donation of $20 however we never want anyone to miss an event because of finances so please donate what is comfortable for you.
