Fruit Tree Grafting in Your Garden

DescriptionCome and learn how to graft fruit trees! Winter is the perfect time of year to do so. Want to put new life into old trees? Grafting new wood onto a mature tree is a great way to change varieties of fruit and take advantage of established rootstock.

UC Master Gardener Presenter Michael Klein: A Master Gardener since 2011, Michael has conducted clinics on pruning and grafting and has spoken at gardening events on topics regarding alliums, vegetable container gardening, and growing and preserving Italian herbs. He became a Master Food Preserver in 2017 and was a judge at the San Mateo County Fair in 2018. Additionally, Michael attended the Culinary Institute of America in 1997, has taken cooking classes around the world and apprenticed with a butcher in Trequenda, Italy. Currently, he is a confectioner and chocolatier at Preston’s Ice Cream and Candies in Burlingame, CA.
