Snapshot:

This quirky shrub adds a pop of color to any garden. It has a leggy growth habit with long stems and thin leaves that complements the sunny yellow flowers. You'll either love or hate the smell which is said to deter pests. Tagetes attracts butterflies and bees, but deer are not typically interested. It is hardy and drought-tolerant, but thrives with a little bit of water during extended dry periods. It is best grown in well-draining soil, in mild climates, particularly coastal areas, where low temperatures are less prevalent. It is available in most nurseries.
