Biography

Jörn Ole Becker has been a faculty member at UC Riverside's Department of Nematology since 1992. He received his undergraduate and graduate education in Agricultural Sciences at the Christian-Albrecht University, Kiel (Pre-diploma) and the Georg August University, Göttingen (Dipl. Ing. agr.) in Germany. He continued at the GAU for his doctoral degree (Dr. sc. agr.) in Plant Pathology with a minor in Microbiology and Tropical/Subtropical Crop production. His postdoctoral work took him to four continents and various R&D positions in agrochemical and biotechnological industries. In his UCR position, he has focused on basic and mission-oriented research on the biology, ecology, and management of plant-parasitic nematodes. Additionally, he extends information about integrated nematode management to UC advisors, growers, industry representatives, and the general public. He is a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the Society of Nematologists.
