For the Love of Bees: How to Grow Herbs and Other Fragrant Plants

Description: Did you know that different bees emerge from overwintering at different times, in search of their preferred flowering plants? Come join us to learn the basic needs of bees and how to grow their favorite plants all year long. Plus more about the medicinal properties of plants!

UC Master Gardener Presenters

  • Cindy Burgdorf: Cindy has been a Master Gardener for 16 years. She has been gardening for over 70 years (she started with cherry tomatoes in her grandmother’s garden). On her 1 1/2 acre property, she has year-round vegetable gardens, gardens devoted to bees and butterflies, six bee hives, ten chickens, a worm bin and six compost bins. Her yard is a Monarch Waystation (Monarch Watch), a certified Butterfly Garden (NABA), certified WildLife Habitat (NWF) and certified Bee Friendly Garden (Pollinator Partnership).
  • Karen Flores: Karen has been a Master Gardener since 2022, but she has always been interested in growing vegetables and flowers. She was a volunteer at Filoli for over 20 years as well as an instructor for over 10 years teaching classes on vegetable gardening in pots and flower arranging. She is a member of the Master Gardeners Soil Specialists and has given many presentations on a variety of subjects including soil.
