Planning a Garden with California Native Plants

Description: This class, part of the Building a California Native Garden Series, will focus on site evaluation, water, sun exposure, design and the appropriate plant material. This is part of the library's Sustainable Living with Burlingame Public Library programming.

UC Master Gardener Presenters

• Melissa Mason: A Master Gardener since 2015, Melissa specializes in California native plants. In 2019 she initiated and led the San Carlos Native Plant Habitat Garden Project, where Master Gardeners planted more than 80 species of native plants in an 8000 sq ft park area in San Carlos. Currently, Melissa and her team are researching and developing “Plant Notes,” which are individual educational materials that feature information on how to grow and maintain a single plant or plant family. Each Plant Note is tailored to our region, in a thorough and concise format and available to the public online. Classes are also available about each plant or group of plants upon request.
• Eloise Maki: A Master Gardener since 2020, Eloise specializes in California native plants. In addition, she is on the "Plant Notes" team, writing and editing educational materials that feature information on how to grow and maintain a single plant or plant family.
