About the Event

Unlocking the Magic of Native Plants in Your Garden

Description: At this workshop for home gardeners, Master Gardeners will discuss the magic and beauty of California native plants and how vital they are for our pollinators and wildlife. Additionally, plant selection will be covered. We hope attendees will be inspired by this informational session and begin to appreciate and add native plants to their gardens.

UC Master Gardener Presenters:

  • Eloise Maki: A Master Gardener since 2020, Eloise specializes in California native plants. In addition, she is on the "Plant Notes" team, writing and editing educational materials that feature information on how to grow and maintain a single plant or plant family.
  • Melissa Mason: Melissa has a degree in Biology from UC Davis and has been a Master Gardener since 2015. She specializes in California Native Plants. In 2019 Melissa initiated and led the San Carlos Native Plant Habitat Garden Project where Master Gardeners planted more than 80 species of native plants in an 8000 sq ft park area in San Carlos. Currently, Melissa and her team are researching and developing “Plant Notes,” an online library of educational materials that provides information tailored to our region on how to grow and maintain a single plant or plant family.
