Lyngso Zoom Series: Introduction to Composting
https://www.lyngsogarden.com/community-resources/
Learn how to turn your kitchen scraps and yard waste into a nutritious, money- and environment-saving amendment for your garden. You will learn how to take what Mother Nature does naturally, breaking down or decomposing organic matter into dark, sweet-smelling compost. When added to soil, it improves drainage during the rainy season and holds onto moisture when temperatures are high. Used as mulch or top dress on soil, it keeps plant roots cool, soil moist, and discourages weed seeds from sprouting.
UC Master Gardener Presenter Leslie Muennemann: Leslie has been a UC Master Gardener since 2008. She is also a master composter and lectures on home composting. Leslie has been gardening her entire adult life. She grew up in Mexico, returning to the U.S. to attend college in 1973, and is one of our bilingual, Spanish speakers. She has given presentations on home and worm composting, and California native gardening.
