Kern County Hi 4-H is a hybrid of a social group and a leadership team. We encourage you (but you’re not obligated) to work at events and activities to further your leadership skills. This creates a perfect balance for either someone who wants to dive head first into leadership, or someone who isn’t quite sure if they are ready to commit to just yet!
We have fun monthly activities, which the members take an active role in deciding, planning and implementing. With help and guidance, we believe that this is just one more way to help teach our members valuable leadership skills and responsibility. We also help out at all County 4-H events. There are many roles in which to help, so members are constantly learning a variety of skills.
It has also been set in our guidelines that we will host and/or participate in at least one (1) community service activity each year. 4-H is commonly known for its contributions to our various communities, and we’d like to keep this tradition alive by helping out our own community.
If possible we try to cover the cost of our activities as much as possible, to try to keep things free for our members. To do this we receive funds every program year from the Kern County 4-H Leader’s Council, as well as our own fund raising efforts. This is also why the group has decided to have an open/closed style registration. Registration for the group opens yearly from July 1st- September 30th.
In following and participating in a set of guidelines set forth by the founding members of the Kern County Hi 4-H group, members can earn a patch and/or a medal for their hat each year.
Hi 4-H strives to set a good example for other 4-H'ers as well as the Kern County 4-H name. We are proud to be ambassadors and represent the Kern County 4-H Program.
