Adult Volunteer Resources

Completing the following steps by the dates listed will help to ensure that the projects can be added to the system on July 31, allowing families to begin enrolling their youth on August 1st.

These steps are for the 2025-2026 program year.

New Volunteer Steps:

  1. Complete the initial Interest Survey after July 1
  2. Complete a Department of Justice/FBI Live Scan anytime before July 6
  3. Submit enrollment in ZSuite after July 15. Adults will only select their Club. You will not select any projects at this time. Projects will get added on July 31 and you will be added to your project.
  4. Pay enrollment fee after July 1
  5. Complete 2025-2026 California 4-H New Adult Volunteer Course after July 1
  6. Complete New Adult Volunteer Orientation (NAVO) within 3 months of volunteerism
  7. Project Leaders also need to complete the 4-H Annual Project Plan and send to 4-H office before project can be listed in ZSuite for enrollment. Send anytime before July 6

Returning Volunteer Steps:

  1. Submit enrollment in ZSuite after July 15. Adults will only select their Club. You will not select any projects at this time. Projects will get added on July 31 and you will be added to your project.
  2. Pay enrollment fee after July 1
  3. Complete 2025-2026 California 4-H Returning Adult Volunteer Course after July 1
  4. Project Leaders also need to complete 4-H Annual Project Plan and send to 4-H office before project can be listed in ZSuite for enrollment. A new one for the new year but you can edit last years to save a little time. Send anytime before July 6
  5. Although not required for returning adults, it is highly recommended that every adult volunteer complete the New Adult Volunteer Orientation (NAVO) if you have not done so before.

NOTE:  If you have a break in service

If you have a break in service as a 4-H volunteer, as in you were not marked "Active" for the 2024-2025 program year, please follow the process for a New Volunteer.
