As of August 12, 2010 there were 268 blue gum failure reports in the database. Root (44%), Branch (42%), Trunk (14%). Mean age: 62 years, mean DBH: 43 inches, mean height: 81 ft.

Most commonly associated structural defects reported were heavy lateral limbs (28%), multiple trunks/codominance (12%) and dense crown (12%).

Decay was reported in 61% of root failures, 60% of trunk failures and 41% of branch failures.

Among branch failures, 48% failed at the point of attachment and 42% failed from 1-6 ft. away from the point of attachment.
